liberty market

just recently i rediscovered liberty market.  it's an interesting place because it's a restaurant but they also have an espresso bar and wifi.  i first went there for breakfast with a friend and didn't care for their menu that much.  but then one day we decided to try dinner and i really enjoyed it.  it is simple food but fresh and often with a little twist. what got me coming back again was when i was trying to find a place to just hang out and write on my blog.  i often am hungry around mid afternoon and of course i need a cup of coffee.  there are so few places that have everything you need, food, coffee, internet connection.  liberty market is the place for me.  in fact this is where i am right now.

the barista i've met there is a wonderful lady who actually made me a coradito for free.  she is very talkative and down to earth. i was hooked from then on.  that's what brings customers back in my opinion, warmth and friendliness.

i do have to warn you though on saturday nights they get super busy after 5.  i was a little sad to find out that they shoo all the computer people to the window bar stools.  honestly i wouldn't have minded so much but when the lady, i'm guessing the manager, asked hubby and i to move, not even before all the tables were full and while we were still eating our dessert, i was a little perturbed to say the least.  nevertheless, i'm back here today and enjoying my time on my computer.  so far no one is telling me to move.  =)

here are the things that i love about this place: they have cupcakes! i've never tried them but they have them, every time i come they have a flavor of the day.  they have awesome lighting (lots of windows), they serve lunch until 5 and dinner after that, and they have an extensive espresso bar.  on top of the usual espresso bar, they offer thai tea and ca phe (vietnamese coffee), and the kicker, they actually have iced toddy (cold brewed coffee).  for those that like to drink, beer is available and they also have wine by the glass or bottle.

oh and a little side note, the bathrooms are really fun.  ok, i know this is strange but they got real creative with this and i really admire that.   i will post photos soon...

cornish pasty co.

one monday back in january hubby and i went to the cornish pasty co.  we've never been to the new location and i wanted to see what the place looked like.  we got there before any dinner rush so we had the whole place to ourselves.  i was even more happy to find out that wine on mondays is only 3 bucks a glass.  ya can't beat that!  hubby got hot tea and i had a glass of red.  i'm sorry to say that i was so caught up in the drinks and salad that i forgot to photograph the pasty.  (there was actually a mix up with my order and they ended up giving me an extra pasty for free).  if you like pastys then i recommend this place. they have an assortment, from traditional to vegetarian.

iced latte

nothing like a homemade iced latte in your very own luby's glass.  i don't usually have time but i needed the caffeine.  i made this using our cool little espresso maker (francis francis!).  it takes pods so there is no mess.  easy clean up...sweeet, and that's exactly how i like my latte!

Daily Dose

I'm always looking for a good place to have breakfast.  And when I found this place I was super excited.  When we went we actually could sit on the patio because it was still pleasant outside.  I very much enjoyed my pomegranate iced tea and ya gotta love a place that puts cucumbers in your water!  The crab cake eggs benedict were awesome.  The eggs were cooked exactly like i like them and the english muffin was actually crispy.  Sides included potatoes and their DD hash (acorn squash with mushrooms and onions).

We noticed two dogs sitting by us so I'm guessing it's a dog friendly patio.

the sushi eye

First time having sushi here. It was smooth! Really enjoyed everything we ordered, especially the Adkins roll, no rice. Catchy huh?! Yummy too!

Zen green-tini as pretty good. A little sweet for me but I like salty martini's best anyway. They have some awesome apps for happy hour.

I would go back in a heartbeat.

3 roots coffee house

It's been a long time since I've been here.  Still nice and cozy. They expanded a little and have new furniture since the last time I was there. The barista was a sweet girl, not snobby in anyway.  She made me a latte with a little design, i like to say it was a mitten. =)
